HSC PREPARATION

We designed this class to support students in preparation of French HSC Continuers. We follow the Australian curriculum outcomes for year 11 and 12 and work on examination techniques.

Lessons combine some work on topics, grammar and sample papers, including listening, reading, writing and speaking activities.
Small groups allow a meticulous work and an individualised monitoring of progress.

Objectives

– Widening vocabulary linked to the prescribed topics: the individual (personal identity, relationships, school life and aspirations, leisure and interests), the French speaking communities (daily life, lifestyles, arts and entertainment), the changing world (travel and tourism, the world of work, current issues, the young person’s world).
– Strengthen grammatical skills:

  • Conjugaison
Verb – person and number, regular and irregular verbs, reflexive verbs, modal verbs.
Tense – infinitive, simple tenses (présent, futur, passé composé, imparfait, conditionel) and compound tenses(passé composé, plus-que-parfait, participe présent et passé).
Voice: active, passive, use of ‘on’.
    Mood: indicative, subjunctive, imperative, conditional.
  • Grammaire

– Applying methodological tips systematically: analyse questions, organise answers, plan vocabulary and specific syntax.
– Practicing mock examinations.

What makes us different from a private tutor ?

  • Our teachers are qualified and experienced in HSC preparation.
  • Our classes take place in a French speaking school so students switch to French language more easily.
  • Your child will be working with a group of peers: it’s more stimulating and richer. Students learn from each other too!
  • Once a term, we organise an excursion to practice French in context (restaurant, shopping…)
